ARTIST: The Jayhawks
ALBUM: Rainy Day Music (2003)
Another album I just can't seem to get enough of, "Rainy Day Music" is even better when listened to driving through the country on a sunny day. Even though Mark Olson is not in the mix any longer, Gary Louris has written some of his best songs, along with drummer, Tim O'Reagan, who wrote and sings a couple songs reminiscent of John Lennon. There are noticeable similarities to The Beatles, CCR, Eagles, CSN, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, but the melodies, lyrics and songs, as a whole, are just as captivating and sincere on their own. Forget about the influences… this is truly an americana MASTERPIECE. The album was produced by Ethan Johns and Rick Rubin and special guests include Stephen McCarthy, Richard Causon, Bernie Leadon, Chris Stills, Matthew Sweet and Jakob Dylan. http://www.jayhawksfanpage.com
