| This is the fourth release by one of my favorite
americana-style bands fronted by Ryan Adams, who has a hand in all
the songs written, along with Mike Daly, known primarily for his pedal
steel playing with many artists in this genre. I can definitely hear
a resemblance to Fleetwood Mac, Graham Parsons and, (do you remember)
the Sundays, especially due to the beautiful harmony vocals by Caitlin
Cary... similar sounding to Emmy Lou Harris and Nicolette Larson.
This is an amazingly well produced album by Ethan Johns, once again.
It flows moodily up & down like a leaf on a journey to the ground
on a windy day. Man... if I could work with someone like that, maybe
my turds would sound polished, but then again, Ryan is an incredibly
gifted, soulful, thoughtful singer-songwriter, even though he seems
like an overblown, cocky, selfish dork. http://www.ryan-adams.com or http://www.losthighwayrecords.com |
