ARTIST: Wilco
ALBUM: Yankee Foxtrot Hotel (2002)
Trippy, spacious, minimalistic, complex, beautiful, lazy, groovin', moody... just down right texturally captivating and melodically satisfying. Given that the original members of Wilco played a hand in this creation, there are some really cool twists the new members add to their core. Besides all the additional sound effects, horns, loops and unconventional wackiness, Jeff Tweedy's unique & quirky, headstrong lyrics still penetrate the musical canvass with potency. If you trust me on this one, buy their "Summer Teeth" and "Being There" albums to hear the transformation, but amazing similarities... when you really think about it. The only bummer is that Ken Coomer and Jay Bennett, such crucial entities to Wilco, left the band, although I think Tweedy and Stirratt will carry on just fine with the others and remain vital to my music collection. http://www.wilcoworld.net
